We can’t believe that we are already back to school one month! We’ve had a very enjoyable and busy September. Everyone has settled in really well and at assembly today Ms. Moran praised everyone for super work, neat handwriting, great healthy eating and for dressing smartly in our school uniforms. This is going to be a great year. Below you’ll find some of the events and activities that took place during September. Please check our website regularly for updates, especially your child’s class posts.
Junior Infants
We would like to extend a very special welcome to Junior Infants. They have settled into school life really well and are having lots of fun learning.
Just some of the children in 3rd class who had healthy lunches in September!
Congratulations to all the students who were named Dálta na Míosa and who received Special Commentations for September.
GREEN SCHOOLS STUDENT COUNCIL
We have combined our Green Schools Committee and Student Council and now have a GREEN SCHOOLS STUDENT COUNCIL which will be known as the GSSC. We had our first meeting last week and will be meeting regularly to talk about how to work together to continue to create a happy, healthy, safe and environmentally friendly place for everyone. We hope that all students and their parents will support us in our work this year. We welcome new ideas that will inspire everyone. We are currently waiting for the deliver of four “buddy benches” which The Mens Shed is making for us. We will be painting these when they arrive before putting them in the yard to enjoy.
We are currently in the process of removing the plants from the bed beside the teacher’s car park and will be transplanting the shrubs in the Tree Tribe’s Garden. Our yellow courgettes and sweet corn grew continuously throughout the summer and they are now ready for harvest. We will be expanding the growing area to enable more teachers to participate with their classes and will try to have something of interest all year round in the existing beds. Working with Dunleer Community Hub.
SCHOOL CHOIR
Ms. McHugh has established a school choir for this year. We hope all the members enjoy singing at Mass and at the various school events during the year. Male members welcome to join!!!
