THERE’S A BIG SURPRISE COMING OUR WAY!

On May 17th, Ms. had very exciting news for the school. Everyone gathered in the GP hall where Mrs Moran announced that Michael (1st class) and Daniel’s (Junior Infants) mam had entered a competition on behalf of the school. The competition was run by FBD and thanks to Michael and Daniel’s mam we have won a great prize – €3000 of new PE/sports equipment for our school. Everybody was thrilled with this news and got even more excited when Ms Moran told us that Paul & Gary O’Donovan, the champion rowers from Skibereen will call to our school to present the prize. We are really looking forward to the day and plan to make it very special.

EASTER COLOURING COMPETITION

An Easter colouring competition for all pupils was organised by SISK, the company building the houses at the back of the school. There were three prizes of easter eggs for each class. Congratulations to the winners.

GLOBAL WARMING WARNING MARCH

On May 3rd we all marched through the village chanting and dressed in ways to bring an awareness of global warming and how it is impacting on the environment – causing changes in weather conditions across the globe and affecting our own lives and that of all species on earth. Pupils painted t-shirts, created banners and posters and wore colours associated with the environment and the heat being created by global warming. Thanks to the GSSC and Mr. Moore who organised the event, to the Gardai for escorting us  on the walk and to all  the parents and guardians who joined us. Watch out for photos in local newspapers in the next week or two – we had three photographers with us!

GREEN FLAG NUMBER 7!

We are so proud to announce that we have been awarded our seventh green flag for Global Citizenship & Energy. We worked for two years to achieve this and are so delighted with our success. Well done once again to the GSSC and Mr. Moore who led the way and to all pupils and teachers for their hard work and support. The awards will take place on May 30th.
