We learned lots: for example – the honey bee is black and is very common in Ireland; it takes the pollen of 2,000,000 dandelions to make one jar of honey; there is only one queen bee in any colony; the queen bee is 50% larger than the other bees and lays about 1,000 eggs a day; the queen lives for 5-6 years; the other bees (drones) live for about 6 weeks. Eoin the bee keeper has 150 hives with 40,000 bees in each one. Here are some photos of the visit.
