MORE MODEL PUPILS!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THESE SUPER CHILDREN – AWARDS WERE GIVEN FOR LOTS OF REASONS INCLUDING FABULOUS WORK, MAKING A GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN DIFFERENT SUBJECTS, FOR MAKING GREAT EFFORT, FOR TRYING THEIR BEST, FOR BEAUTIFUL HANDWRITING AND FOR BEING KIND, CARING AND HELPFUL. TAKE A BOW!! 





JUNIOR INFANTS PRODUCED SOME FABULOUS WRITING AND ARTWORK BASED ON A STORY CALLED “THE RAINBOW FISH.”  HERE ARE SOME LOVELY EXAMPLES

3RD CLASS CONTINUE TO IMPROVE IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS WITH HANDWRITING. LOOK WHO GOT THEIR PEN LICENCE!

WE RECENTLY PARTICIPATED IN OUR LOCAL SPRING CLEAN. MR. MOORE’S CLASS AND OUR GSSC WENT OUT AND ABOUT AROUND THE VILLAGE. DUNLEER TIDY TOWNS HELPED AND COLLECTED OUR LITTER BAGS AFTER THE CLEAN UP. 

DUNLEER TIDY TOWNS ALSO HELPED US TO CLEAN UP OUR WILD FLOWER AND COMPOST AREA. THE USED ELECTRICAL TOOLS TO CUT DOWN BRANCHES AND CLEAR OUT PLANTS WITH DEEP ROOTS. 

OUR BUDDY BENCHES AND PLANTERS WERE FINALLY READY TO PUT INTO THE SCHOOL YARD. WE MADE THE PLANTERS FROM RECYCLED CABLE REELS AND PADDY HOLDCROFT AND DAVID FROM DUNLEER COMMUNITY HUB HELPED US TO PAINT THEM AND PUT PLANTS IN THEM.

WE HAVE BEEN BUSY LOOKING AFTER OUR SCHOOL GROUNDS, DOING LOTS OF WORK TO MAKE IT LITTER FREE AND COLOURFUL. DUNLEER TIDY TOWNS AND DUNLEER COMMUNITY HUB HAVE PLAYED A HUGE PART IN THIS. THEY ARE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNERS!









THIS TIME OF YEAR IS A BUSY ONE. WE HAVE JUST FINISHED OUR ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN AND WE ARE CURRENTLY PLANTING FLOWERS IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS AND IN THE WINDOW BOXES. WE PLANTED GARLIC AND ONIONS RECENTLY AND HAVE JUST SOWN PEAS AND DID SOME WEEDING. 

CAN YOU SPOT A HEADBOARD AND A MIRROR IN OUR GARDEN?! IT’S AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN UPCYCLE AND RECYCLE! 

WHAT’S NEXT??

WE ARE CONSTANTLY COMING UP WITH IDEAS TO ADD TO THE BEAUTY OF OUR SCHOOL. WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN PALLETS FROM SOME OF OUR PARENTS AND FROM GLEN DIMPLEX.

OUR NEXT PROJECT IS TO UPCYCLE THE PALLETS BY CREATING “HANGING GARDENS” FOR THE SCHOOL WALLS LIKE THESE:

MARY IN 5TH CLASS SURPRISED ALL HER CLASSMATES WHEN SHE BROUGHT IN SOME BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED BUNS SHE BAKED AT HOME. THANK YOU MARY FOR BEING SO KIND AND THOUGHTFUL…..YUMMY!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 6TH CLASS WHO RECEIVED THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION ON MAY 8TH. TWO OF OUR 5TH CLASS PUPILS SANG “SEINN ALLELUIA”  AND PHILIPSTOWN CHILDREN’S CHOIR SANG THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE CEREMONY.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHILDREN IN 3RD, 4TH, 5TH & 6TH CLASS WHO TOOK PART IN THE RECENT CROSS-COUNTRY CHALLENGE IN TULLYALLEN. THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND EVERY ONE ENJOYED THE DAY AND WE HAD SOME WINNERS TOO!

Feelings & Emotions in S.I.

Recently in Senior Infants we have been exploring feelings.

We have been discussing our feelings & emotions & those of others in S.P.H.E. and we integrated some of these activities in our oral English lessons & Art.

Authors in 1st Class

1st class wrote their own books in station teaching this term. Well done to all the girls and boys, they wrote lovely stories with beautiful handwriting and super illustrations and with great imagination! They read their stories clearly and fluently too

Busy time in Second Class

Last week for Grandparent’s Day we interviewed our grandparents and then read them out to the class. Thanks to all the grandparents for taking the time to be interviewed. We learned lots and lots!

Last week we also celebrated St. Brigid’s Day! We made lovely St. Brigid’s cloaks from felt! They look lovely!

On Wednesday we celebrated our First Reconciliation! We performed, sang and read brilliantly! Our parents, teacher and Fr.Murtagh thought we were great and were very proud of us!

Fun in February

We have had such a busy week in Senior Infants this week.

We discussed Catholic Week,  chatted about our families – especially our grandparents. We even were lucky enough to have some Grandparents visit us on Friday last.

We also learned about St Brigid and some 6th class pupils helped us make a St. Brigids Cross. 1st of February is also the first day of Spring and we learned about the Seasons.
