We hope you all have an enjoyable and well deserved mid-term. The children have worked very hard along with their parents and guardians. Well done to you all for your commitment and support.

It is now time to take a well deserved week off and to enjoy yourselves as much as you can under the circumstances.

Remember that Tuesday is pancake Tuesday so enjoy making and eating them!

Thanks to all the children who sent in photos – keep them coming!!!

WE ARE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD WELCOMING ALL OUR PUPILS BACK TO SCHOOL, WE HAVE MISSED YOU ALL!!

ON MARCH 1ST WE WILL WELCOME JUNIOR INFANTS, SENIOR INFANTS, 1ST CLASS AND 2ND CLASS BACK.

ON MARCH 15TH WE HOPE TO WELCOME 3RD CLASS, 4TH CLASS, 5TH CLASS AND 6TH CLASSES BACK.

THERE ARE SOME VERY IMPORTANT PRACTICES THAT WE ALL NEED TO BE AWARE OF AND TAKE ON BOARD TO KEEP US ALL SAFE. Principals have been asked to remind parents, guardians and pupils of the following as we prepare for the safe return to school and to prevent pupils, their families and school staff from contracting Covid-19:

Advise parents of the partial return to school arrangements for March 1st 2021 – this has been addressed in  emails and also by An Taoiseach in his address to the nation on Tuesday February 23rd and in the letter forwarded to you from Minister Foley – Letter to parents and guardians 24 Feb

Advise parents that a Return to Education Form will be required for each pupil returning – this must be completed for every child and brought in the day he/she returns to school. The form has been emailed to everyone but hard copies of the form will be available when you drop off/collect your child’s work on Fridays.

Remind parents of the contents of Section 5 of the school’s Covid-19 Response Plan – this has been emailed to everyone and can be accessed by clicking on this linkSection-5-Infection-Prevention-Control-Measures- Scoil Bhríde is making every effort to implement as much of Section 5 as possible, taking into consideration the size and layout of the building, the number of rooms, play areas, entry/exit doors etc.

Remind parents to adhere to public health guidelines and not to congregate at the school – this is extremely important and is outlined in parts of Section 5 (attached),  has been addressed in Minister Foley’s letter to you and forms part of the guidelines issued to schools.

Important points:

  • Please do not arrive to school early
  • Always wear a mask when entering the school grounds – only enter the grounds if absolutely necessary (all pupils including infants should be able to make their own way into the classrooms).
  • If walking your child to/from school maintain a 2 metre distance from all others.
  • If driving your child to/from school, stay in your car until the bell rings at 9.10am and then at 2pm/3pm.
  • Make sure your child does not arrive before 9.10am as they will have to congregate with children from other classes (possibly putting themselves and others at risk) waiting for the school bell to sound. Our policy is to keep classes separate from others (except the two 6th classes who play together outside).
  • Anyone who does not adhere to the guidelines will be contacted as we want to maintain a high level of safety to all, particularly in light of new variants of the virus that have emerged.

Advise parents that communication with the school should be by phone or online only – this is the safest way for communication between parents and teachers. Please phone Jacinta on 041 6851324 to request a call from your child’s class  teacher.

Advise parents about the updated DE wellbeing resources for parents – this can be accessed by clicking on the following link – gov.ie – Wellbeing advice and resources during COVID-19 (www.gov.ie)

The staff, Board of Management and I  would like to sincerely thank you and your children for your support and understanding during these very strange and unpredictable times. It is everyone’s hope that we will not enter another lockdown but this is only possible if everyone plays their part. So please respect everyone in the school community and take into consideration that many of us live or are in contact with vulnerable family members and friends. We are all responsible for our own and other people’s health and wellbeing and need to be proactive in stamping out this virus and avoid putting ourselves and anyone else at risk.
