Baking Fun in First Class
Our baking lessons are going really well. We love learning how to bake new things every week. Last week we made pizza and this week we made Mary Berry’s Flapjacks with Mrs McLeod. They are a yummy healthy treat. If you want to try the flapjacks here’s what to do:
Melt 225g of margarine with 225g of Demerara sugar and 75g of golden syrup. Add 275g of porridge oats and the zest of a lemon. Press the mixture into two 8inch round tins lined with baking parchment and bake for 30 minutes at 160 degrees celsius until golden brown. Then enjoy with a glass of milk or a cup of tea!
Spring has sprung….
We marked the first day of Spring (Celtic Spring) by celebrating Saint Brigid’s Day in the church with Fr. Murtagh. Check out our Saint Brigid’s crosses we made during art!
It has been a relatively mild winter and as a result, the daffodils and crocus bulbs have emerged from the ground quite early this year. The yellow crocus were planted to remind us annually of Holocaust Memorial Day (29th January), which has just passed.
The Green Schools have been quite busy preparing the garden area and planting a large assortment of bulbs which were given to us by Woodies DIY in Dundalk – a big thank you to them. Derek from Fourth Class has been coordinating the bulb planting for us.
Several projects associated with our current green flag as well individual projects have been completed by the senior classes in the school.
Regards, The Green Schools Committee
Saint Brigid’s Day
We celebrated Saint Brigid’s Day on Wednesday the 1st of February. The children were very busy preparing for this special day by creating lovely pieces of artwork, singing songs and making Saint Brigid’s crosses. We brought our crosses to mass on Saint Brigid’s Day to be blessed.
First Confession
First Confession for Second Class will take place in the church on Wednesday the 15th of February.
Mid-Term Break
The school will be closed from Monday the 20th of February until Friday the 24th of February for the mid-term break.
