At the start of November we moved seats and changed our tables around in First Class. We are sitting in groups now and we think it’s much better this way. We have a new teacher called Ms. Maguire. She is very good at teaching us and is very kind. We have to make sure our bird feeder is topped up to keep the birds fed, especially in this cold and frosty weather.
Mrs. McLeod, Erin’s Mammy is coming in on Wednesdays to help us bake. We are very excited to get some baking lessons. In P.E. we are practicing our gymnastics. There is one week left in November. We are on the countdown to Christmas!
We are still making lovely cakes and buns every Wednesday in Fifth class. We are preparing for our Christmas Carol Service and decorating inside and outside the class. We have enjoyed three weeks of training with the GAA. We are looking forward to Christmas and to Santa coming!
All the trees are looking bare and native trees and shrubs like Hawthorn and Rowan are yielding up their fruit to the local bird population.
We have filled the bird feeders with nuts and seeds to supplement their diet – a much appreciated food source in the recent cold snap.
Each class has been assigned a research project associated with Global Citizenship Flag. Pupils or pupil’s parents that have originated in a different country to Ireland have been encouraged to write about their countries. This is very important as it informs everyone in the school community of where their classmates are from as well as the Global nature of the community we live in.

Sixth Class organised a Jumble Sale in the school hall on Friday the 2nd of December. Children from all classes brought in unwanted items from home over the past two weeks. By Friday the hall was bursting with things to sell! The Jumble Sale was a huge success, raising a significant amount of money for Saint Vincent De Paul at Christmas time. We would like to thank Sixth Class and their teacher Ms Dromgoole for all the hard work and effort that they put into organising and running the Jumble Sale. Well done!
Christmas Carol Service
Preparation for our annual Christmas Carol Service has begun. The children are very busy practising their carols, playing the tin whistle and rehearsing their lines too. The Christmas Carol Service will take place in the church on Tuesday the 20th of December at 11 a.m. All parents and gaurdians are invited to attend.
Santa’s Visit
Santa will visit all the children in Scoil Bhríde, Dunleer on Wednesday the 21st of December. All the children are counting down the days and getting very excited!
