Scoil Bhríde News
Welcome to Junior Infants!
Junior Infants are really enjoying getting to know each other and their school. They have settled really well and Mrs Boylan is so proud of the great effort they all make. Junior Infants have been very busy decorating their room with their beautiful art work and they have even found time to plant some bulbs outside. We are all looking forward to a great year learning and playing together.
First Class
Welcome to First Class! We have been busy since we came back from our summer holidays. We love running and skipping in P.E., painting self-portraits and flowers in Art and playing in Golden Time every Friday. We are very lucky to have Station Teaching for English until the mid-term break. We are writing and illustrating our own stories. Every Friday we have a spelling test. Our class mascot is a cuddly bear called Sunny. Sunny will be allowed to go home soon with each child in First Class for one sleepover. Sunny is looking forward to meeting you and your families!
Second Class
We love Second Class! We love our teacher. We do lots of great things, including P.E., Art and the Mystery Walker. At the end of every week, the table who has the most points gets two prizes each. My first month of Second Class was awesome! We have a teddy called Toby. I had him first, Seán Donnelly had him next and now Laragh has him.
Third Class
Third Class are working very well. Cake baking takes place each Tuesday and all the class enjoy it. Swimming starts on Monday the 5th of October for eight weeks. All the class are really looking forward to going to Aura in Dundalk .
Fourth Class
We are settling in well after our Summer Holidays. In class we have learned about some wonderful things across the subjects. What stands out for us are the following topics: History – Houses from the past and homelessness, Science —Lungs, breathing and teeth, English—Story writing in pen and cursive script writing, Art – Making clay teeth. As well as our academic work, we have had many things on the go, including participating in the Cross Country event in Dundalk on Wednesday last, the 16th of September. We had great fun racing and seeing if we would qualify for it!
Fifth Class
We are all enjoying being back at school and are working hard. We are learning to play the tin whistle this year as part of our music curriculum and have mastered a few tunes already. We are getting GAA coaching from Louth coach, Seán. Some of us went to the Louth Primary Cross Country event in DKIT with other children from our school. We had a great time competing with other schools from all over north Louth. Busy times indeed!
Welcome back everyone!
We didn’t have a particularly warm summer and this is reflected in fewer butterflies and moths around the garden. We had, however, a bumper crop of Pink Fir Apple potatoes which we cooked and ate in the class. The Brussel Sprouts have also grown very well, as did the wildflowers in the Tree Tribes Garden and at the back of the school. We are now beginning our first year of the new green flag called Global Citizenship and we are looking forward to it!
